Synopsis

Family life – whether rural or metropolitan – is characterised in all aspects by strict patriarchal traits and customs. Parental prestige is large, and bodily punishment is an everyday habit. It is the right and the task of the father, the head of the family, to introduce their sons to work and other skills, while the upbringing of the daughters is the task of the mother, the housekeeper.
